National Museum
The beautiful building where the National Museum is located
was constructed in 1876 and was inaugurated by the then Governor of Britain of
Sri Lanka. This is the largest museum in Sri Lanka. There is a beautiful and

former royal family of Sri Lanka, such as the King's Golden Throne and Crown,
are also on display at the museum.

Independence Memorial Hall
Sri Lanka get independence from Britain on February 4, 1948.
This massive stone building is a monument to its existence, surrounded by
peaceful, green and lush gardens. The architecture of the Independence Memorial
Hall is inspired by the Royal Auditorium in Kandy. Today the hall is used for
religious ceremonies and the annual National Day celebrations.
The arcade is located in a group of beautifully remodeled
buildings, surrounded by green lawns, and has an aquarium with a fountain and a
glass floor. This is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the

Galle Face Green
Galle Face Green, south of the Fort area, Colombo's narrow
beach, and a long stretch of green grass adjacent to the promenade. Originally
it was cleared by the Dutch to give a clear view of the canons, but today it is
an ideal and peaceful place for walking, running, playing football, flying
kites, and playing cricket.
The promenade is packed with couples and families,
especially on Sunday evenings. Galle Face Green is the best place to watch the
sunset in Colombo. A large number of food vendors along the promenade also sell
great street food at low prices. In some places, there are even tables on the
